Second worker succumbs after collapse of Banks DIH building

Anthony Lowe, the demolition worker who was left critical after a Banks DIH building that was being demolished collapsed just over a week ago at Industrial Site, Ruimveldt, succumbed yesterday to his injuries.

Lowe, 27, of Second Street, Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara, succumbed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he had been a patient since last week Wednesday, when the fatal accident occurred. One of Lowe’s co-workers, Jagmohan Bissessar, 61, of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, died on the day of the accident.

GPH Communications Manager Chelauna Providence confirmed Lowe’s death to this newspaper, while noting that he passed just around 8.30 am yesterday. She said Lowe never regained consciousness.
