Country records seven new cases of COVID-19

Seven new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded yesterday, increasing Guyana’s current active cases to 195.

The total number of positive confirmed cases in the country as of Tuesday is 396. During the Ministry of Public Health’s COVID-19 update, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Shamdeo Persaud reported that 62 more persons were tested for the virus bringing the total number of persons tested to 4,478.

Of the seven new cases recorded, the CMO stated that six of those are from the Arau in Region Seven and one from Georgetown. The 195 active cases are all in institutional isolation. Thirty four persons are in institutional quarantine while four persons remain in the COVID-19 ICU. So far, 181 persons have recovered from the virus in the country.
