Child, 5, still recovering after stabbing

A five-year-old child, who was stabbed almost a week and a half ago, is still recovering at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

The stabbing occurred at an Atlantic Gardens, East Coast Demerara home, which the child was visiting with her mother. The perpetrator, who was a friend of the child’s mother, subsequently attempted suicide and succumbed last Wednesday in the Intensive Care Unit of the GPH.

Commander of Region 4 (c) Royston Andries-Junor told this newspaper that the perpetrator, who was 45, was in her home with her friend’s five-year-old daughter, while the mother was outside of the home.
