Seventy new COVID-19 cases detected

Seventy new COVID-19 cases were yesterday recorded in Guyana – the highest daily figure as the Ministry of Health steps up testing.

The number of confirmed cases  now stands at 846. Twenty-six of the new cases were recorded in Region Four, 10 in Region One, five cases each in Regions Three, Seven and Nine while Region 10 recorded 16 new cases,  Region Eight two new cases and Region Six, one case. Eight persons are now in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit while 399 persons have recovered from the virus. There are currently 77 persons in institutional isolation while 333 persons are on approved home isolation. There are 47 persons in institutional quarantine.

Some 205 more persons have been tested for the virus, increasing the total number of persons tested in the country to 6,502.
