Ministry assists fire victims: The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security on Friday presented aid to a Kuru Kururu family whose home was destroyed by fire. The ministry said Wayne Mc Kenzie and his wife, Soma Madramootoo and their four children, ages 4,7,9, and 11, were the victims of the fire. Both parents were severely burnt and are patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. The children are currently in the care of their grandparents. In presenting the assistance on behalf of the Minister and the Ministry, representative Sonia Philander said, “we would like to extend our support towards you and the rest of your family during this difficult period. We understand that the assistance being offered through the ministry cannot compensate for your loss but we hope that it brings a little comfort and relief to your household. Rest assured that we at the ministry of human service will work along with your family to ensure that the children affected receive the best possible counseling to help them to cope with this traumatic experience they are facing”.
