COVID-19 cases zoom to 1,029

Just five months after recording the first case of the novel coronavirus, Guyana yesterday surpassed 1000 cases of the disease.

This was observed through the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard which showed that some 74 new cases of the virus were recorded during the last testing cycle and as such the number of cases in the country now stands at 1,029. Some 330 more persons were tested for the virus within the last 24 hours which increased the total number of persons tested to 7,234. Just about 14% of all persons who were tested for the virus have returned positive results.
