A twenty-five-year-old West Bank Demerara mason was killed on Tuesday night in a hit and run accident and the suspected driver of the car and two others have been arrested.

The dead man has been identified as Imran Abdul, of Lot 24 Unity Street, La Grange, West Bank Demerara. According to a police report, the accident occurred at about 9:40 pm. Abdul sustained injuries to his head and back. The police later found the vehicle believed to be involved in the hit and run being stripped at a Belle West bodywork shop.

Fazal Khan, Abdul’s older brother who lives in Goed Fortuin Squatting Area said that Abdul had spent a little over two hours at his residence and had left at about 9 pm on Tuesday. Following the accident, he learnt that after Abdul left his residence he had visited another friend at Side Line Dam, La Grange. Khan said his brother was probably walking along the road while waiting for transportation as his home in La Grange is situated at the other end of the community, some fifteen to twenty minutes away by foot.
