Joint Services Heads infer intent for `country-wide breakdown in law and order’

The Chairman of the Joint Services Coordinating Council, GDF Chief of Staff, Brigadier Godfrey Bess has warned that it can be inferred that there is an intent among unnamed social commentators for a “country-wide breakdown in law and order”.

In a statement yesterday, the Heads of the Joint Services noted what they said were recent constant attempts to tarnish the character of some of its members particularly Commissioner of Police (ag) Nigel Hoppie.  The Joint Services are urging those social commentators against this practice.

Brigadier Bess, who was appointed earlier this year as acting head of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) said that he has noted with concern the attacks and stated that he stands in full support of the targeted officers as they face the daily threats to law and order in  the country.
