Accused in Canadian national’s murder beaten and chopped at Lusignan prison

Aszim Shivgobin, one of the three suspects accused in the murder of Canadian citizen Nicholas Ramkissoon Jaipaul, is currently hospitalised after he was attacked at the Lusignan Prison on Friday night.

Director of Prisons Gladwin Samuels confirmed the attack, which occurred sometime after 10pm.

Sunday Stabroek was told that Shivgobin, also known as ‘Blackie’, 23, was brutally beaten and chopped about his body, including to his hands, feet, chest and face.
