Two more COVID deaths reported, ministry still to confirm

This Stabroek News graph shows the number of COVID-19 deaths that have been recorded in Guyana since March 11th when the index case and death were recorded. The graph shows that between March 11th and August 2nd, 21 deaths in total were recorded. Subsequently an almost daily increase in deaths have been recorded to date. 93 deaths were recorded between August 2nd to date a significantly higher number than the first 5 months of the COVID-19 outbreak in Guyana.

Two more deaths as a result of COVID-19 were yesterday recorded even as ministry officials await to confirm them.

Toshao of Kwebanna in the Moruca Sub-district in Region One, Paul Pierre confirmed one of the deaths while a source at the Ministry of Health confirmed the death of the second person but did not provide any information on the death. This would increase Guyana’s death toll as a result of the virus to 116.

According to information received, the individual from Region One was identified as Mitchell Henry of Kwebanna, Moruca Sub-district who was a former head teacher. The information revealed that Henry had underlying conditions.
