Ministry donates patrol boat to boost community policing at Wakenaam, Leguan

The Home Affairs Ministry has donated a patrol boat to the Region Three Community Policing Division, which is expected to support crime fighting in Wakenaam and Leguan.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said the 16ftx5ftx2ft aluminum boat with a 40 horse power engine was handed over yesterday morning to the Chairman of the Community Policing Division, Mustapha Zaman, by of Home Affairs Minister Robeson Benn, who noted that community policing groups should be the link between communities and the Guyana Police Force.

 “Other than gunmen going around, some of the incidents appear to be people getting emotional and mud balling…We have  to have empathy and understanding so we don’t get things degenerated any further,” he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the ministry.
