Stanleytown biker critical after crash

A man is now in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after a crash along the Stanleytown Public Road, West Bank Demerara.

Lucius Welcome, 40, of Stanleytown, was riding a motorcycle north along the western side of the road when he crashed into a car, PXX 7172, and landed some distance away along the western parapet.

A police statement said the driver of the car, a 29-year-old Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara resident, told police officers that he was stationary on the eastern side of Stanleytown Public Road, facing south, when he looked south then north and did not see any vehicle coming or going and decided to turn west in order to proceed north.
