In keeping with Government’s plans to promote and boost coconut production in Guyana, a new $1.1 million coconut nursery was commissioned on Tuesday at Kairuni on the Linden/Soesdyke High-way.

A release from the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA)  informed that the nursery was commissioned by Agriculture Minister, Zulfikar Mustapha. It is the first of two nurseries that will be commissioned before the end of 2020 and will have the capacity to produce 25,000 additional seedlings per year.

In his remarks at the commissioning,  Mustapha assured that his ministry is working to ensure proper coconut planting material is easily accessible to farmers across the country.
