Venezuelan bandits grab guns, $10M from Kaituma couple

A businessman and his wife were on Monday robbed of guns and $10 million by three Venezuelan nationals, who later engaged in  a shootout with police while making their escape.

Elroy Alam, 56, and Shonna Campbell, 22, both of Port Kaituma Waterfront, North West District, were attacked between the hours of 11 and 11.32 pm at the businessman’s premises.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said the men stole a .223 semi-automatic rifle with 30 live rounds and a magazine, a .32 semi-automatic pistol with 10 live rounds and two magazines, a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun, $10 million, four gold chains and four gold rings from the couple.
