Basmattie Singh, the newly appointed Chairman of the Neighbourhood Democratic Council of Mahaica, has assured that works will be undertaken to remedy the current problems at the Mahaica Market.
In light of a letter published by Stabroek News detailing the condition of the market place when it rains, Singh disclosed that there is an estimate to conduct remedial works but the council’s cash grant is insufficient to handle the cost. However, she noted that the council is awaiting the passing of the national budget in order to move forward with the project.
