A pedal cyclist is now on life support after being hit by a Ministry of Health (MoH) mini-bus.

The accident occurred at around 6:10 am on Vlissengen Road, Georgetown, on Friday. The police said the vehicle was driven by a 50-year-old male of Pike Street, Kitty.

According to the police, the pedal cyclist was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane of Vlissengen Road, holding a mattress on his head when he suddenly swerved right onto the western-drive lane in an attempt to cross onto the western side of the road.
