Woman accused of home building scam gets bail

A woman accused of defrauding persons by pretending that she could assist in the construction of low-income homes was on Friday released on $180,000 bail after denying the charges laid against her.

Nazia Persaud was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, where the charges were read to her.

Persaud is accused of collecting $265,000 from Monica Wills at Sandeman Place, Brickdam, with the intent to defraud, by falsely pretending that she was able to construct a home for Wills.
