Six People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) councillors resigned from the Rosignol/Zeelust Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) and then did an about-face after meeting with party leaders.

In a press release last evening, the PPP said the six councillors— Chairman Chate Puran, Vice Chairman Iqbal Alli, Haimwattie Persaud, Joseph Tribhawan, Samuel Jagnandan and Agnes Karamchand—withdrew their resignations after meeting with PPP General Secretary Bharrat Jagdeo, and Central and Executive Committee members Zulfikar Mustapha and Nigel Dharamlall at the party’s Freedom House headquarters, located on Robb Street, Georgetown.

The meeting came one day after the councillors reportedly sent in their resignation letters with effect as of yesterday.
