Boat operator convicted of manslaughter in case of Venezuelan

Boat operator Tony Rampersaud now awaits sentencing after a jury yesterday afternoon convicted him of manslaughter for the 2016 killing of Venezuelan national Henry Mendonca.

Rampersaud had been on trial before Justice Gino Persaud at the High Court at Suddie.

Following hours of deliberations, a jury returned a unanimous verdict, acquitting Rampersaud on the capital offence, but in a majority of 10-2, found him guilty on the lesser count of manslaughter.
