The relatives of Vanessa Lewis-Sahadeo, the Corentyne mother who died after an unsuccessful delivery at the New Amsterdam Hospital in late February, on Wednesday picketed the New Amsterdam office of Regional Health Officer (RHO), Dr Vishalya Sharma.
The woman’s father, Eric Lewis, declared, “We will continue the protest. All the protest we do, nobody na tell we nothing so we will continue to do it.”
The family is asking that Lewis-Sahadeo’s three children be given some sort of compensation. They are also requesting that an official report with the names of those responsible be handed over to them along with Lewis-Sahadeo’s missing phone and clinic card.
