GFF commences COVID-19 testing of national footballers

With the aim of resumption training for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), the local governing body, commenced COVID-19 testing yesterday for several members of the training roster at the entity’s National Training Center, Providence.

This was disclosed by a source close to the federation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. According to the source, the testing phase which featured members of both the playing and the management teams, was conducted by officials from the Ministry of Health.

The source expounded, “The testing of the players was held at the training center in Providence, the players had to meet there for 11:00am. Every local player was supposed to get tested today, those who were part of the team for the games in the Dominican Republic and those who are part of the training squad. Some members of the management team were also tested today.”
