Major repairs to Pirara Bridge still to begin

More than a week since a section of the Pirara Bridge in Region Nine collapsed under the weight of a truck, major repairs to the bridge are yet to commence.

The bridge was reopened to light vehicular traffic and trucks are being allowed to cross with weight restrictions after emergency rehabilitation works were done. Region Nine Chairman Bryan Allicock told Stabroek News last week that the truck which wrecked part of the bridge was removed and planks were placed to allow for crossing by light vehicles.
