An infraction at the finish line on Wednesday proved costly to Briton John as breakaway mate, Christopher Griffith was awarded his first win of the season in a photo finish with the former.
Gunning for his second win of the year in the Team Alanis-sponsored 60-mile road race, John who initially seemed to get the better of Griffith in their two-man battle was relegated to second after he limited the space with Griffith who was forced to ride very close to the edge of the road.
Griffith who has been a model of consistency on the circuit this season, was then awarded winner of the event staged from Carifesta Avenue to Half Way Tree and back.
