Accused bike thief spared after victim drops case

Kurt Steele

A man charged with stealing two motorcycles got a reprieve on Monday when one of the victims decided not to proceed with the charge.

Kurt Steele, 23, a pork-knocker of Charlestown, Georgetown, was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in a Georgetown court, where one of the charges was dismissed. He was, however, remanded for the other charge.

It is alleged that on June 21, 2020, at Hunter Street, he stole a motorcycle valued $85,000 from Peter Talbot. It was also alleged that on April 25, at Eping Avenue, Bel Air, while in the company of another and while armed with a gun, he stole a motorcycle valued $190,000, property of Chelsea Barton, a city constable.
