Three Berbice ranks from the Upper Corentyne area are currently being questioned after they were accused of stealing over $20 million from a Chinese national they intercepted earlier in the week for illegally entering Guyana.
Commander of Region Six Jairam Ramlakhan, when contacted, advised Stabroek News to contact the Special Organized Crime Unit (SOCU).
A source has since confirmed that SOCU is investigating the matter. Stabroek News was told, that SOCU visited the region earlier in the week, and as of yesterday the three lawmen were under arrest.
