The government has promised assistance to Kevin Phillips, the owner of the vulcanizing shop at the corner of D’Urban and George streets, Werk-en-Rust which was destroyed in a fire on Thursday last.

Speaking to this newspaper yesterday, Phillips said that some ministries have reached out to him after he made a request for assistance. Phillips, who has said that the losses are in the millions, on Saturday told this newspaper that he was in need of help as the fire had left him without a home and he wanted to rebuild and to start working again.

The business owner is currently staying on D’Urban Street at a friend while his sister who lived with him is at the home of relatives.
