The miner who died on Monday afternoon after a mining pit caved in at Black Water Backdam, Cuyuni River is yet to be identified.
The deceased, a 21-year-old resident of 4 Miles Port Kaituma, was identified only by the alias “Vibes.”
According to the police, their enquiries revealed that the victim was in the company of four others jetting in the mining pit when the dam that held the slush from the tail end broke, causing the slush to run down.
