Jasmine Abrams, Archibald to compete in Tokyo

Emanuel Archibald

Jasmine Abrams and Emanuel Archibald have joined Aliyah Abrams as Olympians who will represent Guyana in Track and Field at this year’s Olympic Games scheduled for July 23 to August 8 in Tokyo, Japan.

Jasmine (11.19s PB) earned a berth via the ranking system and will compete in the 100m while Archibald, the National Long Jump record holder will also compete in the 100m. He achieved his spot via universality by virtue of Guyana not having a male representative in the discipline.

According to President of the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG), Aubrey Hutson, the association was hoping that Archibald could have qualified for the games via the ranking system to compete in both the 100m and the long jump.
