Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony today announced that Sputnik V second doses have arrived in the country.
Anthony made this disclosure during his daily COVID-19 update where he noted that the administration of those second doses will begin tomorrow.
While he did not specify the amount of second doses that have arrived, he stated that persons who received their first doses in April will be given priority as they are coming closer to the 90-day period for the administration of both doses.
“With the second doses that we now have, we would like to give it to the persons who would have received their first dose in April,” Anthony stated.
Guyana has been out of the second doses of the Russian-made vaccine since May. The minister added that another set of second doses will arrive next week.
The second doses which are different from the first have been in short supply all around the world.
