Following the conclusion of a second trial, Stephen Mc Curdy was yesterday found not guilty of the charge of rape.
Justice Jo-Ann Barlow would then inform the visibly relieved Mc Curdy that he was free to go, but not before dispatching him with a sound warning to stay out of trouble and to use his experience of having been charged and placed before the courts to edify others.
Against this background the judge told the former accused not to brag to friends that he had been charged with rape and “gotten off,” but rather to use his experience of having been placed on trial, to live an exemplary life and to advocate for deterrence to potential offenders.
