Pedestrian killed in Providence accident identified as North East La Penitence man

The pedestrian who was struck down on Sunday night at Providence, East Bank Demerara, has been identified, while the driver responsible, who police say was intoxicated, remains in police custody

Stephen Bishop, 51, of North East La Penitence, Georgetown, was crossing in the vicinity of the Ramada Princess Hotel around 7.30 pm on Sunday when he was hit.

The police, in a report issued yesterday, stated that the deceased was hit by Shivendra Ramraj, 34, of Herstelling New Housing Scheme.
