Suspect arrested in attempted Corentyne home invasion

Police are investigating an alleged attempt to commit a felony on a 63-year-old male of Number Sixty-Three Village, Corentyne on July 16th by four masked men who were armed.  One person has been arrested so far.

Police enquiries have so far revealed that on July 13, the victim’s two daughters had arrived from the United States for a wedding and were staying at his home. About 5pm on July 16, three days later, the man’s daughters left for a maticoor (ceremony for a bride-to-be) at Number Sixty-Nine Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

The victim was during this time babysitting his eight-year-old granddaughter and his neighbour’s ten-year-old daughter. About 8:45 pm he saw four men jump over his fence at the western side. They were wearing facemasks and armed with a long black gun.
