“World cup is as unforgiving as it is exciting! Great match against a most worthy opponent,” World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen (at left) Tweeted following his match with Andrey Esipenko last Tuesday at the ongoing FIDE World Cup in Sochi, Russia. Carlsen ultimately beat the 19-year-old Russian Grandmaster in an epic tiebreak match to advance in the 206-player single-elimination tournament.
