Sophia teen remanded on armed robbery charge

A Sophia teenager, who police say was caught red-handed after robbing a man of a phone in a knife-point attack, was yesterday remanded to prison on an armed robbery charge.

The accused, William Kowlessar, 18, of Lot 452 ‘C’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, who read the charge to him.

It is alleged that Kowlessar on July 30, 2021, while at Croal Street, Georgetown, being in the company of another and armed with a knife, robbed Brandon Mohan of a $23,000 cellphone.
