Health Ministry receives new ambulances

Health Ministry receives new ambulances: The Ministry of Health on Friday received four new fully equipped ambulances as part of a US$4.8 million grant from the Government of Japan and the United Nations Office for Projects Services (UNOPS). According to the Department of Public Information (DPI), the donation was made under the “Project for enhancing the health care system through the provision of medical equipment in Belize Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.”  The ambulances were handed over at the Ministry of Health’s Brickdam Secretariat. The DPI added that through the same grant the Ministry of Health received four portable ultrasound scanning systems.The ambulances were handed over by H.E Nobuaki Hanawa, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Trinidad and Tobago. Also present at the handing over was Consul -General for Japan to Guyana, Kashir Khan, Dr. Rudolph Cummings, Local Project Support Officer UNOPS, and Jennifer Vargas, UNOPS Project Manager.
