Robbery convict recaptured after fleeing from Lusignan Prison

A robbery convict was yesterday recaptured shortly after he escaped from the Lusignan Prison while working on the facility’s farm.

Deputy Director of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Corporate Communication Unit, Stan Gouveia confirmed that Shamar Prince escaped from custody after 10am yesterday.

Prince, a resident of Amelia’s Ward, Linden is serving two five-year sentences for two counts of armed robbery.

In a statement yesterday, the police said that Prince was working on the prison farm when a truck entered the compound through the eastern gate.
