(Reuters) – West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder has been rested for next month’s white-ball tour to Pakistan while Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer and Andre Russell have been left out for personal reasons, the country’s cricket board (CWI) said today.

The selectors also omitted all-rounder Fabian Allen and paceman Obed McCoy due to injury.

West Indies, who failed to reach the T20 World Cup semi-finals, have picked several uncapped players in the two 15-man squads, including batsmen Justin Greaves and Shamarh Brooks, spinner Gudakesh Motie and all-rounder Odean Smith.

“There are a number of talented newcomers in each format that will have the opportunity to show what they are capable of at the international level,” said lead selector Roger Harper.

“The ODIs in Pakistan are part of the ICC ODI Super League where points gained work towards qualification for the ICC World Cup 2023. So these ODI’s are very important to us and are being treated as such.”

West Indies play three T20s and three one-day internationals against Pakistan starting on Dec. 13 in what will be the first visit by a foreign country since England and New Zealand pulled out of scheduled tours this year for security reasons.
