How many dead women will it take before we recognise intimate partner violence as an actual pandemic? How many family relationships must be destroyed before we recognise that violence doesn’t just impact the victim, but everyone who is connected to the victim? How much longer will response strategies be laid mainly at the feet of civil society as opposed to state readiness through effective policing and support services? We have all heard of the horrors that come with reporting abuse and violent partners at the police station. How much longer before we move away from the culture of using violence as a method of discipline for children?
