Kidnapped Trinidadian woman found

(Trinidad Guardian) Two days after the husband of a kidnapped woman of Madras Settlement escaped their kidnappers, the 54-year-old woman was found wandering along Cumaca Road, Valencia yesterday.

 

It appeared she was dropped off there by her kidnappers.

 

Mattie Maraj told police that after walking along Cumaca Road, she saw a house and went there asking for assistance.

 

She related to the occupants of the house that she was kidnapped along with her husband.

 

The occupants immediately telephone the Valencia police and officers arrived to find Mattie who identified herself as the wife of Narine Maraj who was kidnapped along with her on Saturday.

 

Police took Mattie to the Sangre Grande Hospital where she underwent medical attention.

 

Narine and Mattie Maraj were kidnapped from their farm in Piarco on Saturday. A $2 million ransom demand was made for their safe return.

 

Ag Snr Supt Ryan Khan, officers of the Kidnapping Unit, CID officers, SORT Eastern Division Task Force, Air Support and Valencia police officers were the first to respond.

 

Police confirmed that several suspects are in custody and are being questioned.
