ANUG executive charged with assaulting ex-girlfriend

Kian Jabour

Businessman and A New and United Guyana (ANUG) executive Kian Jabour was on Friday charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend and released on $20,000 bail after offering a not guilty plea.

Jabour, 34, of Rahaman’s Park, East Bank Demerara, appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he secured bail after denying that he unlawfully assaulted the woman, causing her actual bodily harm.

Jabour, the Taco Loco restaurant owner, was subsequently released on $20,000 bail and the matter was adjourned until a later date.

In 2020, Jabour faced public criticism after a video of him verbally abusing a woman was circulated on Facebook. In the video, he told a young woman that she was mentally unstable as she attempted to evict his Taco Loco business from its Thomas Street location. He did not comment on the video when this newspaper had contacted him then and had said that it was a private matter.
