The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has officially announced the commencement of continuous registration setting plans in place to possibly hold Local Government Elections later this year.
In a statement on Wednesday, GECOM said that registration will take place at all of its permanent Registration Offices across Guyana. The process is expected to conclude on May 29, 2022.
The Elections Commission noted that the exercise is of crucial importance to those persons who would have been first-time applicants, in the 14 to 18 years age range, that was captured during the 2019 house-to-house registration. It noted that that registration has been cancelled therefore eligible persons would have to reapply.
