Address the criticism

Dear Editor,

With regards to the PPP/C’s unhappiness and unease at being scrutinised and criticised by critics, they need to address the criticism rather than attack the critics. It is the message that needs addressing not just those who are critical. What is the message that the Government is unhappy and uneasy with? Is it that the Govern-ment needs to be more accountable and transparent? Is it the lack of proper consultation on national projects? Criticism for the sake of criticism is no criticism at all as it lacks objectivity. But criticism that can be backed up with facts and evidence needs to be addressed which is up to the Government of the day to provide. Or, we will just end up with a “he says, she say” cuss-out. Whether the critics are aligned with the PNCR or AFC Opposition is immaterial, as both political parties have lost all credibility. Civil Society needs to be more involved in holding all Governments accountable. Non-performing Governments in Guyana are a thing of the past, the electorate is savvier.

Sincerely,

Sean Ori
