Police await legal advice on charges after East St currency, drugs bust

The East Street, Georgetown businessman who was arrested along with three members of his family last week following the discovery of millions of dollars in local and foreign currencies, uncustomed liquor and narcotics at his premises remains in police custody.

This was confirmed by Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, who told Sunday Stabroek that the police are awaiting on legal advice on the way forward in the matter.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) had said that ranks of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters carried out the search between 14.30 hrs and 15.30 hrs last Wednesday.
