Man charged with stealing TV, amplifiers from church

A man was yesterday  remanded to prison after being charged with stealing a TV, amplifiers and other appliances from the Trinity Methodist Church.

Jameer Shaw appeared before Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly, who read the charge to him. It states that between March 22 and March 23, 2022, at Leopold Street, Werk-en-Rust, he broke into the Trinity Methodist Church and stole a quantity of appliances, which were the property of the church.

They included a 50-inch television, valued at $120,000, a DVR, valued at $42,000, a Gemini amplifier valued at $45,000, an LG amplifier valued at $40,000, a hard drive worth $24,000, and two wall fans worth $30,000.

The man pleaded not guilty but the prosecutor objected to bail. As a result, Shaw was remanded to prison until April 25.
