Spring tide breaks Windsor Forest koker

Part of the structure that broke away from the sluice

Following the breaking away of part of the sluice door at the Windsor Forest koker, on the West Coast of Demerara, temporary stop logs have been placed to help prevent the heavy spring tide from doing further damage and causing flooding.

Stabroek News visited the koker yesterday where a team from the Sea Defence Board and the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) were seen trying to retrieve the situation with temporary stop-logs. The sluice broke away on Sunday afternoon due to the high spring tide.
