Stabroek Market and its immediate environs underwent a massive clean-up on Wednesday.

Acting Town Clerk of the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (M&CC), Candace Nelson, told Stabroek News that they removed garbage, cleaned the drains, washed and sanitized  the entire areas, as well as marked off the roadways for vending and minibus parks.

The effort was done in collaboration with the M&CC, Ministry of Public Works, Guyana Police Force, Ministry of Health and the Guyana Fire Service. Vendors, who also participated in the campaign, took a day off of vending so the team could have access to the entire area.

The cleaning is expected to be conducted on a monthly basis.
