Guyana’s first lift from second oil platform to bring in around US$106m

The Liza Unity platform

Guyana’s first lift of a million barrels of oil from its second platform in the Atlantic – the Liza Unity – will bring in around US$106m amid the huge spike in international fuel prices.

A release from the Ministry of National Resources today said that the first cargo of Guyana’s lifting entitlement was sold to ExxonMobil Sales and Supply LLC following a competitive bidding process by  five companies.

“The ExxonMobil affiliate bid was the best on the pricing differential for the crude and this lift will incur no marketing fee by the lifter. This lift is a one-off arrangement for the company. The GoG will be working to ensure that Guyana receives the best price for each cargo…”, the release said.

Stabroek News had asked questions of the ministry about marketing arrangements for oil from the Liza Unity but received no reply. The Liza Unity’s daily rated capacity is 220,000 barrels but the government has provided no information on what its current daily production is since it started operations in February this year.

The ministry release said that the lift of oil will occur during the period of April 23rd to 24th. The usual lifting entitlement amount of one million barrels of oil will be loaded onto the vessel MV DIMITRIOS by the terminal operator.
