Labourer shot in Sophia succumbs

Yardan Jacobs, the labourer who was shot along with his cousin more than a week ago in North Sophia has succumbed at a city hospital.

Police confirmed that Jacobs, 27 of Lot 5S North Sophia died while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital around 17.00hrs on Tuesday.

His cousin, Steve Bacchus who was also wounded during the incident remains hospitalised at the said hospital.

Jacobs was shot in his abdomen while Bacchus was shot in his lower back during the incident which occurred just after midnight Saturday, April 16th.

The police had said enquiries revealed that Jacobs was at the Tanary Area in North Sophia liming with his friends when he reportedly got into an argument with the suspect. 

As a result, Bacchus intervened.

The suspect then pulled a firearm from his pants and discharged several rounds in the direction of the cousins who were struck.

The suspect is yet to be apprehended.
