UG clinches inaugural tertiary basketball crown

The University of Guyana (UG) team posing with their spoils after winning the inaugural Youth Basketball Guyana ‘Tertiary League’ on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.

University of Guyana (UG) defeated previously undefeated Government Technical Institute (GTI) 69-66 to clinch the inaugural Youth Basketball Guyana ‘Tertiary League’ on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.

Shaquawn Gill, who was eventually crowned the event’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), recorded a double-double of 12 points, and 10 rebounds. He ended the tournament with an overall average of 25.6 points, and 12.4 rebounds.

Timothy Richmond supported with 17 points, and 10 rebounds, while Thariq Duncan assisted with 12 points and six rebounds. Adding eight points and 15 rebounds was Craig Harlequin.
