Guyana continuing to monitor for Monkey Pox

With Monkey Pox being detected in some CARICOM countries, Guyana continues to monitor for any outbreak by providing the necessary training for medical officials.

Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, yesterday said that advisories were sent to doctors on symptoms and how to treat any case recorded in the country.

“Yeah, we have been monitoring for Monkey Pox and the Chief Medical Officer would have issued an internal memo to all doctors defining what they should look for and explaining to them what are the steps they needed to take. So we have sent out this advisory to our doctors probably for more than a month now and we keep checking and monitoring.” Anthony said that training was provided to two medical personnel.
